Tiferet Yisrael: Shabbat Print E-mail

ShabbatThe 26th of Shevat is the Yahrtzeit of Rav Mordechai Yosef Elazar Leiner (Lainer) (1929), Rebbe of Radzin, son of the Baal Hatecheiles  and great-grandson of Mordechai Yosef of Izhbitz. He was the author of Tiferes Yosef. He was succeeded by his son, Rav Shmuel Shlomo, and then by his son-in-law, Rav Avraham Yissachar England.

The essence of Shabbat is in the famous Midrash that when God said, “Yehi,” “Let there be,” whatever He created was infinite and continued to expand, until God said, “Dy,” usually translated as, “Enough,” but actually, as the Holy Parshischer said, “This is enough for My creations to achieve their purpose.”

Shabbat is our opportunity to connect to God as we will experience Him with full awareness in the World to Come as infinite and without limit. We can take the Shabbat experience and understand that even the boundaries we experience are a creation in order for us to achieve self-mastery and transform this world as we know it into an expression of God’s essence.
