Shabbat: The Imma to Us All Print E-mail
Kabbalat Shabbat
Written by Shiri Sher

Kabbalat ShabbatI was reading a book on Kundalini Yoga, and a quote there really struck me, “I am not a human doing, I’m a human being.” If I can sum up what Shabbat represents to me it would be this quote. It is so easy to get caught up doing. We slip so easily into job titles, into roles,

into personal obligations, we are so busy! These things that we are so busy with during the week, they are not the sum of who we are. We need to be reminded that we are not those roles, nor job titles. We are so much more. We are beings and to identify ourselves we must be able to set aside time to just be.

My son, Eli-Chai, when asked what is Shabbat, he says “Shabbat is an Imma to us all”

Shabbat is an opportunity to let go of the roles and return to ourselves, to our source, our “Imma”.
