Baruch She'amar 6 Print E-mail

“Blessed is He who redeems and saves.” Redemption and salvation are usually associated as being secondary qualities. That is to say, “If you get yourself into trouble, I will save you. If you have problems, I will redeem you.” Yet in Baruch She’amar they are included as primary qualities of God. We are saying that God makes room for our mistakes. “I will give you room to grow. You’re going to make mistakes.” Therefore, one of the primary qualities of God is “He who redeems and saves.” The whole of Baruch She’amar is a list of specific qualities. And when we ask for forgiveness, when we ask God to help us do Teshuva, we are saying “He who redeems and saves.”
