The Siddur as Flash Cards |

It may seem awkward to recite the words of Tefilah out of a Siddur; it’s like reading from a script when you are trying to communicate with someone you love. It doesn’t seem genuine.
Rather, we should try to use the Siddur as flash-cards; when you want to give an important speech, you don’t want to leave out anything; you want to stick to some kind of structure. The flash-cards are there to guide you; it is a starting point from which to elaborate freely, from which to build, to add on relevant anecdotes and personal connections.
That means the proper way to use the Siddur is as a springboard for passionate, spontaneous and sincere communication with God.
