Hallel: Paragraph 3: Creating a Container Print E-mail

HallelA poor man knocks on the door of a wealthy man on a boiling hot day, sticks out a cup and begs for a cold drink. The wealthy man is more than happy to pour a drink, but woe to the poor person if the cup has no bottom.

So too, we ask God, “Bless those who fear God, the young and the older,” and we want more blessing, but woe to use if the cup has no bottom, we do not live in peace with each other, then we cannot receive those blessings. Only when all are connected, young and old, can we request, “May God increase upon you, upon you and your children!” (Psalms 115:13-14) – Rabbi Avraham Chaim of Zlotchov – Pri Chaim
