Ma'ayan HaChochmah: Amidah: Blessing 15: The Sprouting of David |
|
|
The 16th of Shevat is the Yahrtzeit of Rav Asher Tzvi of Ostraha, author of Maayan HaChachmah (1817) From the introduction to Maayan HaChochmah: “May You cause
the sprouting of David to flourish.”
In order to understand the introduction to this blessing we must first understand two versions of a Midrash: “Every single blade of grass has a star appointed to nurture it.” The other version is, “Every single blade of grass has an angel that hits it and orders it to grow.”
All creations derive their sustenance from the letters of the Aleph-Bet, which are considered the “Eisev,” the grass of the spiritual worlds.
All creations derive their sustenance from the letters that spell Eisav : Ayin, Sin, Vet.
The letters of the Hebrew word for star or Kochav are: Kaf Vav = 26 = the numerical value of the Name Y-H-V-H, and Kaf Vet = 22 = the numbers of letters in the Aleph-Bet.
A person who understands this, understands that God, through His Name Y-H-V-H gives existence to all things using the 22 letters of the Aleph-Bet, and that He is the Master – A-D-O-N-A-I – Malach, or angel, corresponds to Y-H-V-H-A-D-N-Y.
Only those who study Torah with its letters and acknowledge God as Sustainer – Y-H-V-H and Master A-D-N-Y, can nourish the sproutings of redemption and strive to perfect the world.
