Mistakes: Reb Tzaddok: Sin’s Redeeming Nature Print E-mail
Written by Machberes Avodas Hashem

ConfessionThe 9th of Elul is the Yahrtzeit of Rav Tzadok HaKohen Rabinowitz of Lublin: After the terrible sin of Adam and Eve partaking from the Tree of Knowledge had brought darkness upon all future generations by causing God's decree of death upon man, Adam nevertheless merited the great light of the Shabbat. For this is the way of Creation of the world: first darkness and then light, for thus, by experiencing darkness first, does one appreciate the superiority of liked. Thus too Adam merited the “vestments of light” only after the sin, when he saw that he was naked. (Kedushat Shabbat 5, page 13b)
