Countdown to Pesach 19: A Question Print E-mail

matzahThe Talmud (Berachot 90a) explains Exodus 15:16: “Until Your nation passes through, God – until this people You have acquired passes through” as hinting that the Jews who returned from Babylon with Ezra to rebuild the Temple, were destined to

merit miracles equal to those experienced by Israel when they left Egypt. They forfeit their opportunity with their sins. The T’zlach asks how a prophecy of good, hinted to in the above verse, could possibly be forfeit. Maimonides (The Fundamentals of Torah 10) rules that a prophecy of good may never be retracted.
