Beshalach: The Difficulty of Belief |

This week's Parsha has a wonderful insight. The Jewish people were stuck with the Egyptians at their back and the Sea at their front. The people began to panic and complained
to Moses, "Why were we taken out of Egypt to simply die right here and now!" The courageous Nachson Ben Aminadav walked forward into the sea. The entire nation watched as the water submerged his feet, knees, and waist and only when it reached his neck the water began to split.
The Talmud teaches us from here that "Marriage is as difficult as the splitting of the Sea." Why is so difficult for the omnipotent G-d to split the sea, and how does it apply to marriage?
Rav Zweig once said that it was not difficult for G-d to split the sea, rather it was very difficult for Nachson to enter the water until his neck while believing the sea would split. Similarly it is simple for G-d to make us matches, but it is difficult for us to maintain our belief throughout the entire process.
