The 11th of Tammuz is the Yahrtzeit of Rav Yitzchak Chiyus (Chayes; Chayus) (1616). Rav in Prossnitz (Prostejov) and Prague . Author of Pnei Yitzchak (which sets Yoreh Deah to rhyme), Siach Yitzchak (which sets
Hilchos Pesach to rhyme), and Pachad Yitzchak, a commentary on the passage in Tractate Gittin which deals with the destruction of the Temple , as well as Api Rav’reve.
I chose the title ‘Si’ach Yitzchak’ to refer to Isaac’s prayer, for when we can sing the laws of Torah, developing the ability to ‘converse’ with them and discover the multiple levels hidden in the laws; we can transform our observance of the law into a joyful prayer and song of praise.
This is the essence of Halacha; to transform all we do into a song of praise to our Teacher, God, and use our observance of the law to converse with Him and learn even more.
